Ar Lietuvai reikalingos saugomos teritorijos?
Conference of Lihuanian Protected Areas 27-28 April 2006
Lithuanian partners of BSR EAGLE project had the National Conference on 27- 28 of April 2006: "Visitor/Nature Centres - today and tomorrow". The main aims of the conference were to define the differences between Nature and Visitor Centres, for in Lithuanian these two words have the same meaning now, and to formulate recommendations for the NC strategy.
During the Conference, participants agreed that the task to formulate recommendations for the future strategy during one day of conference is too ambitious, so it was decided to call working group, which would prepare the document. In the end of June, it is planned to organize one more conference for finishing recommendations for strategy of Lithuanian protected areas nature/visitor centres.
Strategy for Visitor/Nature centres of Lithuanian PA will be elaborated later by
The State Service for PA (under the Ministry of Environment).
In Lithuanian protected areas we have 15 visitor's (information) centres and 5 nature centres, and neither of them have a strategy. All administrations by a solid vote agreed that strategy for centres is needed.
